ARCANA is a web application that allows you to perform tarot readings and receive interpretations relating to those readings. You may write a question, select a topic and situation, draw cards, and receive an interpretation of your reading.
You may also use ARCANA as a guest without creating an account. Readings created while using ARCANA as a guest are stored only in your browser’s localStorage and are not stored in ARCANA’s database while you do not have an account.
If you later create an account using the same browser, guest readings stored on your device may be transferred to your account.
When you create an account or use relevant ARCANA features, the following categories of personal data may be processed:
Account information: Your email address and authentication information.
Profile information: Your display name, username, and profile icon preference.
Reading information: The question you enter, selected topic and situation, cards drawn, generated interpretation, and date of the reading.
Birth date and card information: The birth date you enter so that your Soul Card and, if you choose, your Relationship Theme Card can be calculated, the resulting card numbers, and the other person's birth date that you enter manually for a Relationship Theme Card. The calculation uses the birth date only; birth time and birth place are neither requested nor processed.
Friendship information: Friend requests you send or receive and your existing friendship connections.
Usage and security information: Login dates and times, as well as IP addresses or similar technical information that may appear in service-provider logs for security and abuse-prevention purposes.
Preference information: Your language preference and application preferences stored locally in your browser.
Your password is handled by Supabase using secure authentication mechanisms. ARCANA cannot view your password in plain text.
Your personal data may be collected through wholly or partly automated means from information you directly provide to ARCANA, account creation and login activities, your use of ARCANA features, and technical records generated by your browser and device.
ARCANA does not ask you to enter special-category personal data or other sensitive information into the question field.
The question text you enter during a reading may be viewed by the ARCANA owner through an administrative panel for purposes such as understanding how ARCANA is used, identifying errors or abuse, and improving the application.
Alongside the question text, the panel displays the type of spread, the topic and situation you selected, your username if you have one, and the date of the reading. The cards you draw and the interpretations generated for you are not displayed in that panel.
For this reason, please avoid entering unnecessary personal or sensitive information in your questions, including national identification numbers or other identification numbers, addresses, telephone numbers, passwords or account credentials, health information, financial information, and sensitive information concerning your private life.
ARCANA does not request or encourage you to provide such information in the question field.
ARCANA may offer different interpretation options.
Short interpretation: When you use the short interpretation feature, your question and reading information are not sent to a third-party generative AI service such as Google Gemini.
Detailed interpretation: If you use the “Detailed Interpretation” feature, your question, the topic and situation you selected, and the cards drawn may be sent to Google Gemini for the purpose of generating the interpretation.
As part of this processing, the relevant data may be processed using infrastructure provided by Google and, depending on the technical structure of the service, may be transferred outside Türkiye.
This transfer is carried out on the basis of your explicit consent under Article 9 of the KVKK, which governs international transfers of personal data. Your explicit consent is requested separately before you use the Detailed Interpretation feature for the first time; until you give it, your question and reading information are not sent to Google Gemini.
You may withdraw your explicit consent at any time from your profile page. Once withdrawn, the Detailed Interpretation feature is disabled and no further transfer takes place; withdrawal does not affect transfers lawfully carried out before it.
If you do not wish to use the Detailed Interpretation feature, you may choose the short interpretation option instead. You are strongly encouraged not to include sensitive information or information that directly identifies you in your questions.
To the extent necessary for ARCANA to operate, personal data may be shared with the following service providers:
Supabase: Used to provide database, user-account, and authentication infrastructure.
Vercel: Used to host ARCANA and provide its technical infrastructure. IP addresses and similar technical information may temporarily appear in technical logs maintained by Vercel for purposes such as security, system performance, and abuse prevention.
Google Gemini: Used only when the Detailed Interpretation feature is requested, for the purpose of processing the question and reading information necessary to generate an interpretation.
Your personal data is not sold and is not shared with third parties for advertising or direct-marketing purposes.
Your readings are not visible to other ARCANA users by default.
If you use the “Share with friends” feature, the relevant reading may be viewed only by users with whom you have established a friendship connection within ARCANA and whom you selected when sharing. You may revoke sharing later.
Before sharing a reading with another user, we recommend checking that it does not contain personal information that you do not wish to disclose.
Your Soul Card is visible only to you by default; friends can see it only if you turn that on in your profile. Your Relationship Theme Card is also private by default and can be seen only by the friends you choose to share it with. The other person's birth date is never shown to your friends.
ARCANA may use a limited number of cookies and browser-storage technologies where necessary for the application to function and remember your preferences. These may include:
NEXT_LOCALE cookie: Used to remember your language preference.
localStorage: Used to store information relating to your session, guest readings, the “card of the day,” and similar local application data.
ARCANA does not use advertising cookies or third-party advertising technologies intended to track users across different websites. If third-party analytics services are introduced in the future, this policy will be updated accordingly.
Your personal data may be processed for purposes including creating and managing your account, performing login and authentication operations, providing tarot-reading functionality, storing readings in your account, providing friendship and sharing features, remembering user preferences, maintaining the security of the application, detecting abuse and technical problems, and developing and improving ARCANA’s features.
Depending on the specific processing activity, processing may rely on applicable legal grounds under Article 5 of the KVKK, including processing being necessary for the establishment or performance of a contract, processing being necessary for the data controller to comply with a legal obligation, and processing being necessary for the legitimate interests of the data controller, provided that the fundamental rights and freedoms of the data subject are not harmed.
International transfers in connection with Google Gemini rely on your explicit consent under Article 9 of the KVKK and stop if you withdraw that consent.
Personal data is retained for as long as necessary for the purposes for which it is processed. While your account remains active, account, profile, reading, and friendship information may be retained in order to provide the service.
You may delete your account using the account-deletion option available on your profile. Following account deletion, profile, reading, friendship, and login records directly associated with your account are deleted from, or made inaccessible within, active systems.
However, certain information may remain for a limited period where technically or legally necessary, including security records, technical logs maintained by service providers, temporary copies contained in system backups, and records that must be retained for a certain period under applicable law. Such information will be deleted, destroyed, or anonymized when the applicable retention period expires.
Following deletion of your account, these records will not be used for ARCANA’s ordinary user-facing functionality.
Reasonable technical and administrative measures proportionate to the relevant risks are used to protect personal data. Where appropriate, these measures may include use of secure authentication infrastructure, not storing passwords in plain text, restricting access to personal data, and monitoring application and infrastructure security.
However, no method of transmitting or storing information electronically can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Under Article 11 of the KVKK, you may have the right to:
a) learn whether your personal data is being processed,
b) request information about such processing,
c) learn the purpose of processing and whether your personal data is being used in accordance with that purpose,
d) know the third parties in Türkiye or abroad to whom your personal data has been transferred,
e) request correction of incomplete or inaccurate personal data,
f) request deletion or destruction of your personal data under the conditions set out in Article 7 of the KVKK,
g) request that correction, deletion, or destruction operations be notified to third parties to whom your personal data has been transferred,
h) object to a result against you arising from the analysis of your personal data exclusively by automated systems,
i) claim compensation if you suffer damage as a result of unlawful processing of your personal data.
You may submit requests concerning these rights from the email address registered to your ARCANA account to ilgin.guven0@gmail.com. Your request should include sufficient information to identify you and determine the scope of your request so that it can be handled in accordance with applicable law.
Other methods of application available under the KVKK and the applicable rules governing applications to data controllers remain available. Requests will be handled within the periods prescribed by applicable law, depending on the nature of the request.
ARCANA is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. If you are under 13, you should not create an ARCANA account or submit personal data through the application.
Where required by applicable law, minors may need the supervision of a parent or legal guardian when using the service.
ARCANA is intended for entertainment and self-reflection purposes. Tarot interpretations provided by ARCANA do not claim to predict the future with certainty.
ARCANA content is not a substitute for medical, psychological, legal, financial, or other professional advice.
We recommend that you do not make decisions that may significantly affect your health, safety, legal rights, finances, or life solely on the basis of content generated by ARCANA.
This Privacy Notice and Privacy Policy may be updated if ARCANA’s features change, the service providers used by ARCANA change, or applicable laws or regulations change.
Where appropriate, significant changes may also be communicated within the application. The current version will always be published on ARCANA’s relevant privacy page.
